Carus Group announces sale of Sierra Chemical Company assets

Carus Group Inc., a global supplier of specialty chemistries for environmental applications, has signed an agreement for the sale of Sierra Chemical Company assets to Thatcher Company of California, Inc. The sale also includes assets of Circle Transport, Inc. used to provide trucking and delivery services for Sierra Chemical.

Sierra Chemical Company manufactures and distributes environmental chemicals for municipal, agricultural, mining, and industrial markets. Sierra was founded in 1959 and is based in Sparks, Nevada. Carus acquired Sierra in 2011. Circle Transport was established by Carus in 2013 and provides trucking and delivery services to other Carus Group companies.

Thatcher is a privately held company specializing in chemical manufacturing, distribution, and related services. Founded in 1967, Thatcher serves a variety of industries including water treatment, pharmaceuticals, food, and agriculture.

The sale will allow Carus to focus more heavily on serving customers of its core product lines. Carus produces and supplies specialty chemistries, technologies, and services for water treatment, soil remediation, and air purification.
